I remember when all the bales were stacked by hand. They were, of course, smaller (as were the fields) nevertheless there were a lot of them to a field.
Throughout our teenage years many, many days were spent carting and stacking little bales by hand into the hay sheds on the dairy farms we grew up on. And then when we bought our own farm... 28 years ago... we too were stacking little bales of hay by hand. We are not sad that we no longer do it that way.
Lovely picture from a lovely farmlife!

Just a few. A friend who baled his lucerne by hand would be super jealous of the machinery.

DeleteSuch a cool photo
ReplyDeleteI can well imagine your lack of sadness---- I've lifted a few "small" ones back in my teen years, and they were far from easy to toss around.
ReplyDeleteBusy days. Cheers Diane
