A foggy morning surprise.
Bit excited to see my first ever fogbow this
morning. Can you see it? It is pretty faint and was hard to photograph but boy …
was it beautiful.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology fogbows (also called white
rainbows or ghost rainbows) are formed in the same way as rainbows, with the
sun's rays being refracted and reflected by the water droplets in the fog. As
the fog droplets are much smaller than raindrops there is a smaller amount of
refraction and reflection so the colours in a fogbow are paler and appear white.
Isn't nature amazing!
News to me. What a great discovery.
