Oh I remember these flying into the house in their hundreds after rain .. we had no screens and the doors and windows wide open to beat the heat.

Interesting.I am interested in knowing why it is called a Christmas beetle.I have never heard of something like that before.
So called because these beetles are abundant around Christmas time.
