We went to a meeting about water usage and impairment last night in a neighboring town. Though we don't irrigate, they are talking about putting wells down near us to augment water for Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. It was a standing-room only crowd to hear about the latest draft of a LEMA (Local Enhanced Management Area). It affects irrigators in several south central Kansas counties, as well as those of us who just have water wells for household use and livestock.
