Thank you all for your guesses. It is Proso Millet, also known as White French Millet, which can be grown for birdseed. And certainly a random plant to sprout here... but whilst researching what it was it came to my attention that an employee, who breeds budgerigars, bought some budgies onto the farm to show us one day. And that is where the seed is likely to have come from. Mystery solved.
My guess would be canola and if I am right it would be called rapeseed until it is processed into a food product?
ReplyDeleteI've seen it, but no idea.
ReplyDeleteVery nice--- like a still life.
ReplyDeleteSome kind of soghum?
ReplyDeletePossibly rice the leaf is wrong for the other plants mentioned. Diane
ReplyDeleteI have no idea but it makes for a great picture.
