Lakeside at Lake Mulwala.
45 minutes from our farm is Lake Mulwala. On
the Murray River, this man-made lake & weir straddles the New South Wales and Victorian border at
Yarrawonga (on the Victorian side) & Mulwala (on the NSW side). The weir
was built in 1930’s to help drought proof the Murray Valley as part of the
Murray-Darling Irrigation Scheme.
It is now a tourist drawcard for boating
& fishing enthusiasts. We are neither of those but it does make for a lovely
picnic spot… when the crowds aren’t about. We had it almost to ourselves last
night.
Looks like someone was expecting a handout! Delightful shot.
ReplyDeleteLove places like this when you discover that you are alone :-) Diane
ReplyDeleteDid you linger longer in Yarrawonga?
ReplyDeleteNowhere near long enough Andrew.
DeleteLovely.Looks like you had someone eager to help clean up the leftovers.
ReplyDeleteYou can never be alone with a picnic if there is a gull within a mile.
