I just did some research on your Killdeers vs our dotterels, and yes you are correct. They are both part of the plover family. Well spotted!!
I photographed these in our gravel pit where we pump a little ground water out of, hence the decreasing water level that you see in the photo. The gravel pit is located on what is called a “prior stream” and the water naturally recharges over time through the sand. It is by no means an endless supply of water but we are licenced to pump a little out.
Lovely things. Though looking at your photos I would dispute the black-footed.

They look very much like the Dotterels we get on Lewis.
