I've heard of Banjo frogs, but not heard them. I guess their call sounds a bit like a banjo, not my favourite instrument. Frog populations are great canaries in the coal mine for our environment.
I have had it confirmed that it is indeed an Eastern Banjo Frog (the joys of social media!). It has a distinctive "bonk" call, which apparently is like a banjo string being plucked, hence the name.
We hear a lot of frogs at night. They are very loud but a delight to listen to. I don't often see them though.
What a charmer. It is too long since I have seen a frog.
ReplyDeleteSitting up and surveying the scene! Great shot.

Nice find Country Mum. You have sharp eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe sharp eyes are not mine... I would have nearly stepped on him had not Phil pointed him out to me.
