This weekend across NSW the Rural Fire Service held open days.
NSW RFS
is the world's largest volunteer fire service, with over 73,000 volunteer
members. The open days were raising awareness about the dangers of fires in the
lead up to summer and also gave locals the chance to meet the volunteers who
protect their community, and of course… sit in a fire truck.
We are proud that
our son is a 4th generation volunteer with the NSW Rural Fire
Service and we are so very thankful for all the volunteers around Australia
that give up their time to fight fires and help keep us all safe.
It is such an important job. A big thank you to your son and to all the other volunteers.
ReplyDeleteIndeed we are proud of them, and I am proud of my nephew who is a professional firefighter in the country.
ReplyDeleteit's essential to be part of the RFS when you live where we live............no one is coming to our rescue........its just us and the neighbours so we are all part of the brigade.........probably 4th gen here too thinking about it.........
ReplyDeleteAwesome! We feel the same about our volunteer fire departments!
ReplyDeleteWe rely on volunteer fire fighters here in rural Vermont. They are a breed unto themselves...brave, selfless and big hearted. Many thanks to all who stand ready to drop everything and put their lives on the line for the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteA very important part of the community. Cheers Diane
