Upgrading farm machinery is very expensive and involves months of research before reaching a decision. Demoing
the new JCB articulated loader and borrowed the neighbour’s telehandler to do a
comparison.
In my opinion it is a terrible way to spend Saturday morning. Where did you go for brunch? Demoing? Please explain. I like your new one better. The tyres are so much cleaner.
Getting a demo is like taking a vehicle for a test drive. We have the articulated loader pictured on the right on farm for a week to see what we think, how it handles for the jobs we need it for. The telehandler is pictured on the left. It belongs to a neighbour and gives us a really good comparison for the different handling styles of the two vehicles. Both have telescopic booms but they are very different in how they operate, lifting styles and visibility out of the cab. And they both completely different types of vehicles to the tractors and front end loaders that we use now on farm.
You triggered a memory. My father had a demo red? Massey Ferguson for a period. He didn't like it as it was too light in the front for the steep Gippsland hills.
Now I'd have enjoyed that thoroughly. The best farm morning I've had for years was in France in a massive computer guided combine (but I've mentioned that before). Beats milking a herd of cows by hand any day.
I hope the comparison vindicated your decision.

ReplyDeleteBrunch was not on the itinerary for the day!

ReplyDeleteTOYS!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to be able to actually use something and get and idea of whether you like it or not.
ReplyDeleteFantastic that you get to test drive and compare. No doubt the decision will be still difficult.
