Preserving Melbourne’s history.

This is the 50 metre high Coop’s Shot Tower that was built in 1889 to produce lead shots for ammunition. It was saved from demolition in 1973 and is now encased in the Melbourne Central shopping precinct underneath a domed glass roof.

  1. You've been to town! It is a better photo of the shot tower than I have ever taken.

    1. Thank you Andrew. Yes, a quick trip to Melbourne town with just enough time for a concert, uni lecture, sightseeing and a tad of shopping. A nice mix for an overnight stay.

  5. We missed that on our visit. Melbourne can't have had the equivalent of our Deen Brothers, or we wouldn't be seeing this tower now.

  7. Wonderful when such an old tower has been saved. A great solution to encase it in that way.
