My father used to employ pilots to do such work on our dairy farm. We kids loved to be doused in super phosphate and crop spray from the plane. That, and getting covered by blackberry spray (Dieldrin?) by the tractor towed spray unit, and breaking up old asbestos sheets and lagging for fun does not bode well for my future. The pilot will probably live longer than I will.
It is just as well regulations and knowledge about chemical effect has changed over the years. Their usage is now very regulated and a much more cautious approach is used.
Our spray plane pilot in old Rhodesian days was mad, he used to fly under the electric wires!!! Scary to watch let alone be in the air! Great shot Diane

ReplyDeleteThey are quite scary to watch. I would not like to be sitting in one. And yes, under the power lines is quite common!
DeleteWow - what a close shave! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteOh my. My heart would be in my mouth just watching.
