Fascinating.....really! I've never wondered how the gearing worked before and it's decades since I drove one. Now I'm curious.
So this gear meshes with that gear, which then meshes with the other gear, and then what happens?
This is inside the planetarium of the wheel hub. The axle shaft fits in the centre of those four gears.
Is someone having to grease the bearings?
No, changing an o-ring... which is a pretty involved job. We are very grateful that one of our team is a mechanic.
