No, not on this paddock. Lucerne (alfalfa) is a perennial crop, so we are able to cut for hay many times over 5 years before it needs to be ploughed in and a break crop planted. This is our last cut for the season. Lucerne is quite dormant over winter so it doesn't grow much now until Spring.
Lovely and green. No doubt due to irrigation.
ReplyDeleteYes it did have a little irrigation water... not as much as we would have liked though due to the season, so there was a much lower yield than normal.
DeleteThe perfect shot!!
ReplyDeleteFarming just never ends, do you ever get a holiday :-) Diane
ReplyDeleteYes we do. We try an get away for a couple of weeks during Winter. That is the plan anyway... it doesn't always eventuate for one reason or another.
DeleteAnd does the ploughing then begin?
