A visit to the library

… but not just any library.

This is the Domed Reading Room in the State Library of Victoria.

Built in 1913 the magnificent octagonal domed reading room is six storeys high.
It is 34.75metres in both diameter and height.
When it was built the dome was the largest of its type in the world.  

It is truly a beautiful library and one of Melbourne’s treasures.
