Yes it does need to be a very high standard. All the seeds are graded to separate any inferior or foreign seeds. We also did a germination test, which at 98% was excellent.
Well... if this truck was filled with seed oats it would be enough to seed 700 acres (280ha).
Your question then got us thinking further - if that 700 acres was harvested for oats to make muesli bars it would make 9,000,000 muesli bars, or if it was harvested to make rolled oats - it would produce 2,700,000 serves of porridge.
Another BIG load going out.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. Photo is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI guess with seed oats you have to keep a very high standard. Diane

DeleteAnother hot day, too, by the look of that sky!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many acres a load like that will plant? A close up shot of the seed oats would be appreciated...

Are the silos on your farm? If so, it's staggering the area you must be seeding.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are on our farm, but the size is not really staggering. Our farm is actually smaller than the average Australian farm.
