Actually I'd prefer to come across a Brown snake than a tiger snake. A Brown will generally get out of your way, a tiger snake is very aggressive and will stand his ground. But in truth I would prefer to see neither... they are both deadly.
I would never have dreamed this was poisonous...I thought you were going to say it was something like our garter snakes, or black snakes. Not that I would have wanted to pick it up or anything...LOL
Tiger snakes are highly venomous, but with the advent of antivenom they cause very few deaths these days. Without it you would have a 50-50 chance of surviving. Even with the antivenom you can still be really, really sick. So it is best to keep clear of the tiger snake... maybe all Aussie snakes for that matter!

Not one you want to stand on by mistake! I quite like snakes, but I am very wary when I think, or know that are poisonous as this is. Diane

DeleteI know about many of your critters and birds, but I never thought about the snakes there. None of the snakes where we live are poisonous.
