We grow the oats for both hay and seed. The hay goes into dairies and chaff mills. The seed is for own use ie sowing next years crop, as well as sold to other hay growers. The seed that doesn’t make the grade is feed to cattle as part of their finishing ration.
Blissfully cooler here too. Not a skerrick of rain though.
ReplyDeleteFarming is a twenty-hour a day job.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture.
Thanks Gail. Certainly some days are much, much longer than others!
DeleteOats look good. Nice shot..
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. Love to see the rows down a field.
ReplyDeleteDo you make oat hay or do you thresh the oats, or both for that matter. Diane
ReplyDeleteSame questions as Rhodesia - hay or seed? For feed?
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

DeleteI have not popped in for a while. It's great to see your crops growing. Cooler here too with a few spits of rain, maybe the rain will travel your way
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a good stand.
ReplyDeleteI have missed your blog...I have been away for a few days, and just been busy the other days. Trying to decide if I am ready to blog again or not.
