    1. These ones are quite unusual. They have spurs on their wings, and can be quite aggressive defending their nests.

  8. Ah we have them here too. Apparently used to be know as a plover but then they decided they aren't really a plover.

  9. I recognize them as plovers, too, and rarely see them although they live in the paddocks beside the house. They certainly make a lot of noise when the resident hawk flies by. Whatever they are called, they are quite unusual.
