Rest?!? What's that!?!? ... only joking. This cut of hay will take another 3 weeks by the time we finish, then another cut for silage. In amongst all that we start planting winter crops, having already started contract planting winter pasture on local dairy farms And then there is lots of hay to deliver. So no, not really much rest.
Fifth hay cut for the year. We normally get 5 or 6 cuts of hay, and 2 cuts of silage. It is a long season. This year we have had a really good growing season, making top quality hay has been a challenge though with the weather.
I hope it is a bumper crop.
ReplyDeleteA lot of green in this photo. That includes the tractor.
ReplyDeleteWe do like to be colour co-ordinated :)
DeleteSo do you get a rest now or does some other crop take over for the winter?
